Learning Programmes

Tui Room (under 2's)

The Tui Room has a spacious play area that provides a nurturing, safe and peaceful environment for 3 to 24 month old babies, providing your baby with opportunities to explore and create relationships with the world around them.

We strongly value primary caregiving and specific teachers will be in this role who will attend to each child's individual needs in a respectful, calm and unhurried manner. This will allow for opportunities to develop trusting and nurturing relationships with your child and your family. Working closely with families is imperative to us.

Our early learning centre provides a cozy, safe and loving environment where your child can grow and thrive through a range of learning experiences that are specifically designed to encourage discovery and learning. The learning opportunities are based on an environment that is calm, peaceful and allows the child to develop at their own pace with our trusted teachers. Our programs are flexible and conform to your baby's daily routines. One of these routines is giving them some peaceful sleep. We have a warm and quiet separate sleep room with a cot for each baby that offers comfort and security to your child.

A safe and inviting outdoor play area is specially designed just for the babies. This aims to provide our little ones with an empowering environment which encourages learning through safe and active exploration.

Breastfeeding

It is proven through research that breastfeeding is the best form of infant nutrition, providing a multitude of health benefits to both the baby and mother. We keenly support mothers to continue your breastfeeding relationship with your baby while he/she is in our care. You are welcome to come and nurse your baby at any time of the day.

Kiwi Room (toddlers)

Central to the philosophy of the Toddler room is the premise that children need to feel physically and emotionally safe in order to achieve their maximum potential in all areas of development.

The toddler’s room allows further extension to grow and develop, empowering each child to use their environment to further their relationships with both other children and teachers. It stimulates their little brains through exciting explorative educational encounters. Our toddlers’ program provides a cozy, loving environment that is calm, peaceful and allows the child to develop at their own pace with reliable and trusted adults so your child can grow and thrive. Special time and care is taken in creating warm, nurturing relationships with the children and their families. When children in the Kiwi room are ready to embark a new journey, they start their transition to the Fantail room (preschool).

We work hard to maintain similarities with home life and providing experiences and interactions that support and challenge the children’s learning and interests. Just like our preschool, the toddler room has must-see features, with the warmth of natural resources, a cozy feel and an adventure-filled playground that provides children with an empowering environment which encourages learning.

Fantail Room (preschoolers)

We aspire to provide a child-centered learning and developmental programme. We take pride in saying that our curriculum is designed to teach both educational and social skills needed for a smooth transition to the next step of your child's learning journey. A strong Transition to Primary School Programme is formulated by our teaching team, which ensures that your child is well prepared and attains a positive attitude towards attending primary school.

Children learn through investigations based on their current interest. And as teachers we thrive to provide this through our child-centered philosophy which is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and is based on principles and goals of Te Whariki, our national curriculum. We value and warmly encourage your participation as your input is vital to both your child's learning, and the centre's success. We have a partnership approach to learning, where information is shared by educators and parents to form a holistic view of the child's knowledge, skills and understandings.

We take pride in saying that our preschoolers are taught both educational and social skills needed for a smooth transition to the next step of their learning journey. They are well prepared to attend primary school. Parents and Whanau are supported in this new learning journey too, by proving them with a great amount of information and ongoing discussions about their child's progress.

Our centre's philosophy strongly reflects Te Whaariki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, whilst also gaining inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach.

We endeavour to provide an atmosphere that is warm, accepting and welcoming to both children and their families.
